Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026 · Effective: September 27, 2026
Sumbox (算盒 in Chinese; the “App”) is a calculator and everyday tools application that runs locally on your device and is operated by 算盒计算器开发者 (Sumbox Calculator Developer) (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how that information is processed, and the rights available to you.
The App has no accounts or advertising and does not integrate third-party analytics or tracking tools. Your calculation history stays on your device. Network services and information you choose to send to support are explained below.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
- The App does not automatically collect or upload to our servers your name, phone number, device identifiers, location, contacts, photos, or calculations.
- The App does not integrate any third-party SDK for advertising, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, or any other purpose, and does not track you across apps or websites.
- The App does not request system permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, Bluetooth, or notifications.
- Haptic feedback and key sounds are produced on the device only: haptics are provided by the system haptic engine and key sounds are synthesized by the App in real time. The App does not use the microphone, does not record audio and does not upload any content.
2. Information Stored Only on Your Device
To provide its features, the App stores the following information only on your device (in the sandbox that iOS isolates for the App), where we cannot access it:
- History: the expressions and results saved when you press the equals key in the calculator, and the results you choose to save in a tool by tapping “Save”. History is stored in the App’s file Application Support/History/history.json; if that file becomes damaged, the App saves a backup copy named history.*.json in the same folder so that as much of your history as possible can be recovered. History may contain information you enter, such as height and weight, dates of birth, amounts, and generated passwords, and is stored on the device as plain text (the App does not encrypt it separately; the file is protected by iOS Data Protection).
- Preferences: your theme, appearance, Focus Mode, haptics and key sound settings, tab bar shortcuts, favorite currencies, favorite tools, the currencies you last used, and the calculator’s last expression, angle unit, and memory value are stored in the system preferences store (UserDefaults).
- Exchange rate cache: the most recently retrieved reference rates and the time they were retrieved, kept for offline viewing, are also stored in the system preferences store.
- Update and rating records: the time and result of the last update check (the latest version number, release notes and App Store link) and any version for which you chose “Later” or “Skip This Version”; and, to choose when to request a system rating, the number of days of use, the number of calculations and saves, and the time and version of the last request. This information is likewise stored only in the system preferences store and is not uploaded.
If you have turned on iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, this on-device data may be stored by Apple as part of your device backup. Backups are managed by Apple and by your backup settings, and we cannot access them.
3. Network Access and Third-Party Services
- Exchange rates: rates are requested only while the Currency Converter page is on screen (when you open the page or tap “Refresh”), and never before you dismiss the privacy notice shown at first launch. The App requests reference rates directly from the Frankfurter public exchange rate service (api.frankfurter.dev, located outside mainland China); the request contains only currency codes and does not include the amounts you enter, your history, or any personal information. As with any network connection, the server receives network information such as your IP address during the communication; Frankfurter states that it does not log personal data or IP addresses, and its own policy governs.
- Update checks: to let you know when a new version is available, the App queries Apple’s public App Store lookup service (itunes.apple.com) no more than once a day for public information such as the latest version number of the App on the App Store. The request contains only the App’s identifier and the region code of your App Store, and does not include your history or any personal information. No automatic check is made on the day you first use the App or before you dismiss the privacy notice shown at first launch. You can turn this off in “Settings → Updates → Check Automatically”; tapping “Check for Updates” in Settings performs the same query. When a new version is available, the App shows only a notice that you can dismiss; whether to update is your decision, and updates are installed through the App Store. As with any network connection, Apple’s servers receive network information such as your IP address during the communication, and Apple’s Privacy Policy applies.
- Ratings: after a period of use, the App may, at a suitable moment, invoke the system rating prompt provided by Apple; whether the prompt is displayed is determined by the system. Ratings and reviews are submitted directly to Apple, and the App cannot know whether you left a rating or what rating you gave.
- In-app purchases: purchases and the restoration of purchases are handled by Apple’s App Store. We do not receive your Apple Account, name, or payment information; the App verifies purchase receipts only on the device, using StoreKit provided by Apple, to determine whether themes are unlocked.
- Chinese Family Titles: the native Swift kinship algorithm and offline dictionary based on the open-source project relationship.js are bundled with the App and run on the device; the App never goes online to look up your family relationships.
- Website and support: when you choose to visit suanhe.timesoria.com or timesoria.com, the website server receives network information such as your IP address, browser information, requested path, and access time to serve pages, protect the service, and troubleshoot issues; access logs are retained for 180 days. The websites do not integrate advertising or cross-site tracking. If you email timesoria@gmail.com, we receive your email address, message, and attachments only to reply, investigate issues, and provide support. Please do not send passwords or sensitive information unrelated to your issue.
- Links you choose to open (such as the web version of this Policy, email, and the App Store update and rating pages) are handled by the system browser, Mail, or the App Store, and are subject to the privacy policies of those services.
4. Clipboard
The App writes to the system clipboard only when you tap “Copy”, and reads the clipboard only when you choose “Paste”; it never reads the clipboard in the background. When you copy a generated password, the content stays on this device’s clipboard only (it is not synced to your other devices through Universal Clipboard) and is cleared automatically after 60 seconds.
5. Your Rights
- Access and deletion: on the “History” page you can view and search your history, delete individual entries or clear all of it; for a few seconds after deleting or clearing you can tap “Undo” to restore it, after which it cannot be recovered. In Settings you can restore the default tab bar shortcuts and favorite currencies.
- Export: on the “History” page you can export your history as a text or CSV file and choose where to save or share it.
- Complete deletion: deleting the App removes all data it stores on the device (copies already included in device backups are handled according to your backup settings).
- Turning off network access: you can turn off “Check Automatically” in the App’s “Settings → Updates”; you can also turn off network or cellular data access for the App in iOS Settings. Local calculations and history remain available. Exchange rates, update checks, purchases, and restoring purchases require a network connection.
- The App has no accounts and we cannot access your on-device history. If you have contacted us by email, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the support information you provided.
6. Children and Minors
The App is intended for a general audience, is not directed at children, and does not collect personal information from minors. Children under the age of 14 should use the App under the guidance of a parent or guardian; in-app purchases are subject to Apple’s parental controls and “Ask to Buy” settings.
7. Information Security
Your data is stored in the sandbox that iOS isolates for the App and is protected by the system’s data protection mechanisms. Please set a passcode on your device. We recommend that you do not keep important passwords in your history over the long term; please use a dedicated password manager instead.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this Policy changes, we will update this page in the App and publish the change on our website; for material changes, we will notify you again the next time you open the App.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions, comments, or complaints about this Policy or the protection of your personal information, please email timesoria@gmail.com. We will respond within 15 business days.
